In the tradition of yoga, there is a philosophy called Bhakti Yoga. Bhakti is the path of love and devotion, the path of heart. There are many ancient sages that have taught the path, but my best teachers have been the animals in my life.
I am blessed to have the profession of being an animal communicator. I am with animals and their guardians all day long. I couldn’t think of a better livelihood. To say that I’m with animals all day is to say that I am immersed in love because they are perfect ambassadors of unconditional love and acceptance.
Unconditional love and acceptance is a work in progress for many of us. We have good days and challenging ones. We work at it. For animals, it is their natural state. They simply are that predominant loving, empathic, forgiving, accepting, unconditional quality that all of us crave to be and be near. To be in the presence of that kind of love heals us.
How Animals Inspire Us
Animals inspire us to reciprocate these qualities and that is where the magic happens. When we are in the presence of animals, many of us respond automatically with a smile, the feeling of warmth spreads through our chests, the feeling of pure joy radiates outward from within and life suddenly feels uncomplicated. We soften. How does that happen?
Physically when we connect with our pets, they and we release a hormone called oxytocin. This hormone evokes feelings of contentment, reductions in anxiety, and feelings of calmness and security. Because we are both energy beings as well as physical beings, when we connect with any person or animal, the dominant frequency (emotion) is amplified. In our animal’s case, this frequency is often the vibration of love, joy and deep contentment. That frequency is dominant because animals simply are those vibrations more consistently than we are. As our feelings of well-being increase when we spend time with them, pet them, talk to them, listen to them purr, eat, or snore, we become what is called “entrained” to that vibration.
Synchronizing with Emotional Frequencies
Entrainment is the synchronization of two or more organisms to a particular frequency. We can synchronize brainwaves, emotions, cycles and heartbeats. Our hearts radiate an electromagnetic field that affects each others’ moods, attitudes and feelings.
The electromagnetic fields of you and your human and animal family members overlap and intersect. This is why and how we know how our family members, including our animals, our friends and co-workers or perfect strangers are feeling. This is the magic and the science of how animal communication and healing is done. We simply read one another or our animals’ “fields” (energy body) with our hearts and choose to come into entrainment with the dominant field or not. Our brains translate what we feel to words later.
The key here is that it is through the heart not the brain that we perceive one another. Our animals offer us the opportunity to see more clearly as we feel more clearly by opening our hearts more fully. As our hearts open more fully, higher and higher frequencies of love become possible for us to connect with-including bliss and liberation. See the world as your pet does, and you will be practicing Bhakti, the Path of Love, by seeing Love in all.
